Tánaiste Simon Coveney has welcomed the increased funding announced in Housing Adaption Grants for Older People with a disability.
Cork City has been allocated €1.4 million for the grants this year, a 24% increase on 2017.
The council will contribute a further 20% to the fund bringing the total pot to over €1.75 million.
The Tánaiste said, “These grants are often the difference in keeping people in a much-loved home and living independently. They can be used to help with wheelchair accessibility, putting in a downstairs bathroom, adding a stair-lift or installing guard rails.”
Simon Coveney added, “The grants can pay for up to 95% of works and are allowed in different types of homes from owner occupied, renter or someone in receipt of housing assistance.”
